Well, nothing is free. I think every human interaction is based on return of investment. But maybe I'm just cynical, I'll never know :D Although, I've yet to experience otherwise. Everyone's just out for themselves.
I myself would love to live in a world, where people were kind to each other even if there was no reward for it. Or people wouldn't refrain from doing bad stuff to people just because of fear of being punished. It just would be nice if the goodness came from within oneself and not because of outside influence (rewards for being acceptably good / punishments for being "bad")
One example of how fucked up world is can be seen on youtube, just search "act(s) of kindness" and watch a few of them. Then read the comments. At first glance it seems that "wow people are nice, what was that guy on reddit whining about?" but look at it this way: what kind of a world we are living in when being kind is so rare, so sensational, so unexpected, so surprising that it is documented on a video like a lochness monster sighting and then shared online, probably searched by some, commented on. How fucked up this world has to be, how negative one's experience has to be, that it makes you go online to search for kindness because it isn't found in our daily lives?
I'm mean a video about breathing probably isn't that sensational because it's a mundane function, unlike being kind apparently.
I could go on preaching how good people are like candles, [ burning themselves out to bring light to others and it's not a bad thing to die for something good, since one dies anyway. So the only thing to consider is that: is your life worth dying for? Because one will die anyway you might as well make your life worth it. tl;dr: you are dying for your life. ] But I won't..
Anyway, I'm sorry, but that just happens to be how I feel about it. What do you think?
