If you are sided with the truth, no one's presence is intimidating. Truth cannot be threatened, it cannot be challenged per se, it doesn't budge. Anyone attacking the truth is just wasting energy.
If your ideas/beliefs are challenged by someone, if your ideas/beliefs are based on reality they will hold, thus there is no threat, they cannot be threatened. And if they don't hold, then you should re-think your position. Anyone who challenges your ideas/beliefs are actually doing you a favor, they are (usually unknowingly) keeping you on the right track and forcing you to let go of any delusions.
So if you are threatened by someone's presence or your ideas can't handle criticism, you already know that your ideas aren't built on a firm base. If your ideas hurt by comments, criticism, opinions, and opposing ideas, the aspects that get hurt are not solid and should be let go of.
tl;dr: speak the truth, be the truth, then you have nothing to worry about.
PS. More believers doesn't not mean that you are on the right track. People do support ideas because of vested interests (e.g. almost everyone's all in for free stuff and easy money)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Also: Truth doesn't take sides. And it owes you nothing, so even if you choose to let go of your delusions and choose to side with the truth, it won't necessarily protect you.
e.g. If the truth is that you have cancer and only 6 months to live, knowing that alone won't save you. If the truth is that there is still something to be done about it, then siding with the truth might save you.
Truth doesn't reciprocate if you try to "protect" it or "preserve" it, because in reality you can't really give anything to it, there's nothing you can do for it, you can't "protect" it or "preserve" it, it can do that by itself, by its very own being and it'll always prevail.
Truth is something that you either accept willingly or you try to avoid until it finds you and beats you into submission.
The only thing you get from it is itself, the only benefit what you get from siding with it, is that the fall isn't as hard as it would be from the stack of delusions you could be standing on. Depressing, I know, but what else can you do? Lie to yourself?
But then again, what the hell do I know about the truth..? Who am I to talk on its behalf? It'll explain itself.
