On false accusations and online allegations

If you are being harassed, threatened or otherwise a victim of a crime, call the police. If you don't and instead post it on the internet - you are full of shit.

So if you see any accusations ( "x harassed me", "x raped me", "x threatened me" ) online, before just blindly believing it, ask for proof and ask if the victim has filed a police report, but regardless it isn't your job to handle it, it's the job of the police. So you shouldn't act on it, a real victim knows this, thus wouldn't try to amass a personal army online and would go to the proper authorities instead.

I also think that false accusation should be severely punished, because in my opinion they threaten the integrity of a society more than the straight up crime.

If words cannot be trusted(a false accusation is a lie), if there's no real meaning behind them, if one says something and does other, or lies to achieve personal advantage, if words are only meaningless noise, then we might as well stop speaking and listening to them. Thus losing the only thing that makes us different from other animals: complex language.

If we lose the ability to assign real honest meaning to words, the civilization will crumble and we will be living like animals(idiomatically speaking).

I mean I myself would want to be able to really trust people, and in order there to be trust, there has to be a fulfilled promise, in order there to be a fulfilled promise, there must be words with meaning, truth and honesty behind them. Although there can be trust without a fulfilled promise, but rarely when there are broken promises, meaningless/twisted words, baseless/false accusations or lies in the past.
